As photographers, we edit the meaning of the world around us when we decide what to include and what to reject when making a new photo. Likewise, through our frame choice, we decide how elements within a photo are organized and unified. For the Frame and Composition assignment, students will submit a series of five photographs that demonstrate the intentional use of frame and composition. Student photographs should creatively and clearly explore composition strategies such as symmetry, asymmetry, radial, and repetition. This assignment will also engage basic photoshop actions. Final photographs must be submitted in "save for web" 72 ppi format with basic photoshop adjustments added as discussed in class.
For this assignment, we will be looking at the work of artist Andreas Gursky - http://www.andreasgursky.com/en.
